Hodgkin s disease
Hodgkin s disease :
Is a rare cancer of unknown causes within lymph node .
*Etiology *
1. Unknown
2. Viral
3. Genetic( Hodgkin s disease )
4. Environmental ( Hodgkin s disease )
5. Immunological disorder
Clinical manifestation :
1. Enlargement of the lymph node on one side of the neck and painless.
2. Intermitted fever and night sweating,
3. Weight loss and malaise .
4. Lethargy
5. Sever pruritus.
6. Dyspnea
7. Anorexia
8. Bone pain
9. Cough
10. Recurrent infection
11. Hepatomegaly ,splenomegaly
12. Dysphagia
13. Edema and
Diagnostic studies:
* Laboratory studies complete blood count, platelet count , ESR, liver and renal function test.
* Lymph nod biopsy ,bone marrow biopsy.
* Chest X-ray, CT scan for chest and abdomen .

Nursing management :
* help pt. to cope with side effect of radiation therapy include esopharangitis ,anorexia ,dry mouth, nausea and vomiting, skin reaction ,diarrhea.
* Maintain pt. diet (soft food and mild temperature ).
* Teach pt. about dental hygiene.
* Administer antiemetic drugs.
* Encourage pt. to rest and sleep.
* Report any signs of infection fore immediate medication.
* Instruct the patient to use contraceptive during chemotherapy.
* Maintain pt. position semi-fowler position .
